Hebrew World
A new multimedia CD-ROM for beginners in Hebrew

Hebrew World: An Introduction

Hebrew World, on CD-ROM for Macintosh and for IBM compatibles running Windows, is a very high quality Hebrew multimedia course for the beginner. Using advanced phonetic concepts, this interactive program is ideal for children, yet sophisticated enough for adults, such as the US embassy staff in Tel Aviv.

The program contains literally hundreds of easily-navigable lessons, providing a high level of interactive learning. The topic modules include: the Hebrew Letters, Pronunciation, Speaking, Reading, Writing, Calendars, Names, Scenes, Speaking Clock, and Colors. There is even an introduction to Biblical Hebrew. There are multiple self-testing approaches within the modules.

It is consistently entertaining, with beautiful and rich graphics, sounds and music. Hebrew World's thoughtful design even provides the option of choosing between authentic (mellifluous!) male or female Israeli voices pronouncing, guiding, warmly correcting, and encouraging the user throughout the program - without being saccharine.

All introductory and/or explanatory text materials are concise, yet thorough, can be read via automated on-screen scrolling, which can be speed-controlled, or stopped, at the click of the mouse. These texts can also be printed out for hard-copy reading - or ignored completely: navigation is so easy that an average four year old child can quickly learn to utilize the program just by playing with it.

Users have described using Hebrew World as being like having the ultimate, most patient, most encouraging personal Hebrew tutor at one's fingertips. It is probably the friendliest, most effective introductory Hebrew program available today.
